News Release
AUSTIN, TX,
— The Texas Access to Justice Foundation and Texas Legal Services Center are
pleased to announce that David Insley has been awarded the first Randall
Chapman Fellowship. The fellowship was created on the eve of Chapman's
retirement from his thirty-two-year tenure as Executive Director of Texas
Legal Services Center. “This fellowship will encourage new ideas and
creative approaches to the delivery of legal services as a lasting reminder
of Randy Chapman’s tireless work for those in need of legal help and his
passion for justice,” Richard L. Tate, chair of the board of directors for
the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, said. About the Texas Access to Justice Foundation
The Texas
Access to Justice Foundation, created by the Supreme Court of Texas in 1984,
is the largest state-based funding source for the provision of civil legal
aid in Texas. The organization is committed to the vision that all Texans
will have equal access to justice, regardless of their income. The
Foundation administers a variety of funding sources, which are earmarked to
assist nonprofit organizations in providing legal aid to more than 150,000
Texas families each year.
Texas Legal Services
Center (TLSC) is a statewide legal aid nonprofit serving some of Texas' most
vulnerable populations since 1977. Through its use of non-traditional
delivery methods—like legal hotlines, online chat services, and pop-up
clinics utilizing video conferencing technology, TLSC is able to reach
Texans who would not otherwise have access to legal services. To learn more
